Marcia Ball

Peace, Love, and BBQ
Peace ,Love , and BBQ is perhaps the most multi-faceted and deepest album of
Marcia's career. From the pure New Orleans fun of "Party Town", "Watermelon
Times", and "Right Back In It", to more serious commentary on Katrina and
it's aftermath with the probing "Where Do You Go" and the inspirational
"Ride It Out", two of her more arresting compositions(the former co-written
by Tracy Nelson, who also appears on it). Contributions by Dr. John,
Terrance Simien, and Wayne Toups add to the Gulf Coast ambiebce. Plus,
Steven Bruton's production is terrific, especially in the way that he frames
Marcia's performances of "Miricle In Knoxville" and "Down In The
Neighborhood" with a fascinating soundscape. Marcia has described Peace,
Love, and BBQ as the album she's proudest of in her long career, and its
easy to hear why.

Cajun, Zydeco and other music style bands at
Boudreaux and Thibodeau's
downtown nightclub at 214 Third St. in Downtown
Baton Rouge (225) 636-2442
This is new club downtown that usually has Mel Chavis as a one man band playing
zydeco music on Friday's during the early evening and either cajun or Swamp Pop
band later in the night on Friday or Saturday nights. It is usually listed in
the Fun Section of the Advocate newspaper. There are 2 bars associated with
Boudreaux and Thibodeaux. One is downstairs and the other is upstairs with a
great balcony overlooking 3rd Street. Upstairs, on the balcony, the Bourbon
Street / French Quarter ambience is always a great place to escape to for a
happy hour cocktail, or as an early meeting place for friends and family before
our downstairs entertainment begins. There is free entertainment from 6pm til
9pm 3 to 4 days of the week upstairs. Downstairs, B&T Live! looks like the
fishing camp of Boudreaux and Thibodeaux.. .it's a place that everyone can
gather. Laid-back, but energetic, the vibe at B&T Live is always fun! There is
cover of $ 5 for the downstairs entertainment, 9pm - 1am
